About HERA
Hello! I’m Lily,
Founder of HERA Wellness Studio.
HERA began in 2017 (formerly known as Nurture & Nourish Skin) as I completed my bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Medicine and created a skin-focused nutrition business to help my clients with their skin concerns such as acne, eczema & rosacea.
The idea to create a business focused on the internal and external health of the skin stemmed whilst walking my own skin journey over 10 years ago. Working as a beauty therapist in a day spa with a face completely covered with acne, I knew it was the catalyst needed for change.
This led me down a path to studying Nutritional Medicine as well as deep-diving into the ingredients in the foods I was eating and the skincare I was using. In the final years of my nutrition degree, I focused my research around acne, understanding the connection between the gut-skin-brain axis, the effects of antibiotics and probiotics for the skin and what can be done both internally and externally to heal the skin.
In the final year of my Nutrition degree, I started going to the student clinic for acupuncture. I was intrigued by what the students were able to tell about me from just a few seemingly non-specific questions, looking at my tongue and feeling my pulse. The more I kept going, the more I learnt and wanted to understand more. Once finishing Nutrition, my curiosity led me to cosmetic acupuncture and I learned how it provided a safe alternative to botox and fillers and I was drawn to this ancient medicine even more. Fast forward 6 months later and I had enrolled into Acupuncture, where I immersed myself for the next few years of study.
Along the way I have worked within female-owned & nationally-recognised organic day spas, within a highly-respected Australian aromatherapy company and for one of Brisbane’s highly-sought out holistic facialists. I have also worked for highly skilled women’s health & fertility acupuncturists.
2021 was the year I decided to take the leap and turn my small, side-hustle into my main business, as well as pivoting the business to focus more on holistic facials and skin health. After the completion of my acupuncture degree in 2023, I rebranded to HERA Wellness Studio, inspired by the greek mythological goddess known as the protector of women, families and childbirth, reflecting the evolution of this brand to nurture and support women through all seasons of life.
HERA embodies holistic skin therapies, women’s health and cosmetic acupuncture, focused on honouring your natural radiance and bringing you and your skin back to equilibrium. I look forward to welcoming you and holding space for you soon.
