Reclaiming Comfort After Surgery: New Abdominal Scar Release Treatment at HERA

At HERA Wellness Studio, one of the things I hear often from clients is how disconnected they feel from their bodies after a C-section. For many, the scar is a constant reminder of their birth experience—and while it tells a powerful story, it can also bring discomfort, pulling, or numbness. Yet there are very few treatments that directly address C-section scars, and that’s something I wanted to change.

Recently, I trained in The C-Section Release Method, a gentle, non-invasive approach that combines hands-on scar mobilisation, core reconnection, and breath integration. By blending this with my background in acupuncture and hands-on therapy, I can now offer treatments that help women not only heal physically but also feel proud of their bodies again—because no matter how your baby was born, your body is strong and resilient.

What Are Adhesions and Why Do They Matter?

When the body heals after surgery, it can form adhesions—bands of connective tissue that stick together beneath the scar. These aren’t always visible from the outside, but they can affect how your muscles move, how your organs function, and even how freely you breathe.

Adhesions can lead to:

  • Pulling, tightness, or discomfort around the scar

  • Difficulty engaging your core muscles

  • A feeling of disconnect between the upper and lower body

  • Hip or abdominal tightness—even in women who haven’t had surgery

  • Pain or bloating in women with endometriosis

  • Restricted breathing patterns

Scar release therapy works to gently soften and mobilise these adhesions, helping restore ease, movement, and connection.

Real-Life Scenarios I See in the Studio

  • A new mum feeling a deep disconnect between her upper and lower body after her C-section.

  • Someone noticing pulling and tightness across her scar when bending, lifting, or twisting.

  • A woman with endometriosis, living with discomfort caused by adhesions.

  • Professionals who haven’t had abdominal surgery but carry tension through the hips, abdomen, and breath, leaving them feeling restricted.

These are the women I had in mind when I chose to bring this treatment to HERA.

What to Expect in a Session

Every session follows the structured framework of The C-Section Release Method:

  1. Assessment – A gentle check of your scar, tissues, breath, and movement patterns.

  2. Release – Manual techniques to soften adhesions and restore tissue mobility.

  3. Reconnect – Core engagement exercises to rebuild strength and stability.

  4. Breathe – Diaphragmatic breathwork to integrate the changes, calm your nervous system, and encourage lasting mobility.

Common Questions

When can I start?
Ideally once your incision is fully healed—usually from 6–8 weeks post-surgery—or when you’ve received clearance from your healthcare provider.

Does it hurt?
The treatment is gentle and should never cause pain. You may feel areas of tightness or slight discomfort where adhesions are present, but it should not be painful.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends on you and your scar. After your initial appointment, I recommend returning around 2 weeks later, then spacing sessions every 2–4 weeks, and then 4–6 weeks apart until treatment is no longer needed.

Is it safe while breastfeeding?
Yes, absolutely.
